Welcome to my first post on Kongbakpao! Today, I’ve created this Clover Retribution Tier List ranking each Grimoire Magic from best to worst in this Black Clover-inspired game.

Clover Retribution Tier List
Let’s get into the rankings! Each Grimoire Magic shouldn’t be taken at face value based on rarity alone. What’s unique about Clover Retribution is how buildable each Magic ability is. For example, players with a 4-Leaf Grimoire would have stronger Uncommon Earth Magic and could best a player with the Rare Dice Magic hosted on a 3-Leaf Grimoire. Enough yapping, let’s press on.
S-Tier
The best of the best Magics currently in Clover Retribution. These abilities show versatility, strength and dominance as the current METAs in-game.
- Time [Mythic 0.14%] – Insanely powerful from its base stats onwards. Huge move set range including passives and status effects.
- Blood [Mythic 0.14%] – Has a 4-Leaf Grimoire upgrade but remains powerful with its default moves availability.
- Light [Mythic 0.14%] – Incredibly strong magic with hard-to-read moves that make it all the more frightening to enemies.
- Water [Legendary 0.49%] – Blends attack and defence fluidly (hah, get it?). One of the current METAs thanks to its great move set range.
- Ice [Legendary 0.49%] – Strong and versatile attacks, making it a formidable foe to try and beat down.
A-Tier
Great alternatives to the S-Tiers if you’re not feeling confident performing a reroll. These Magics host great power with a range of attacks, they’re just not the absolute best.
- Sand [Mythic 0.14%] – Has a built-in shielding passive which is handy, however, most moves focus on AoE and long-range with disregard to close combat.
- World Tree [Mythic 0.14%] – A threatening Magic to be at the receiving end of. Clears S-Tier easily when upgraded with a 4-Leaf Grimoire.
- Void [Legendary 0.49%] – As a base magic the Void is A-Tier. However, if upgraded with a 4-Leaf Clover it is considered an S-Tier.
- Cooking [Legendary 0.49%] – Strange attacks but offers decent moves and status enhancers for the summoner and their allies.
- Lightning [Epic 2%] – Leaves enemies with the Stunned status effect. Powerful move sets with great combat versatility.
- Poison [Epic 2%] – Offers a variety of different potent moves that deal status effects and damage.
B-Tier
Sliding down into the average tier, Magics belonging to these ranks just about get by. They’re more tailored to beginner players yet to take on high-level bosses and players.
- Spatial [Mythic 0.14%] – I see the appeal and convenience of this Magic, but it lacks combat advantage big time which is what this tier list focuses on.
- Flame [Epic 2%] – Moves typically apply the Burn condition to enemies. Dips in rankings due to the lack of close-range attacks.
- Love [Epic 2%] – Decent moves, but nothing so exceptional that it is higher than the other Epic rarity magics.
- Slime [Rare 16%] – Applies status effects to enemies whilst thriving on long-range and AoE attacks.
- Earth [Uncommon 32%] – Destructive, evasive and invasive. Has a 4-Leaf Grimoire upgrade.
- Healing [Common 49%] – Very handy for solo and partied players. Has a nifty 4-Leaf Grimoire upgrade.
C-Tier
Heading to the weaker tiers, I’d encourage you to reroll your Magic as you can’t get much worse. These abilities get overshadowed by the higher rarities and aren’t generous with their moveset versatility and strength.
- Wind [Uncommon 32%] – Primarily long-range attacks with small impact.
- Dice [Rare 16%] – Unpredictable so not overly reliable in heated combat. Very strong if luck is on your side.
D-Tier
The worst! Though, it is better than no magic at all I suppose…
- Melody Magic [Common 49%] – A symphony for disaster!
