Type Soul Buddies Obtainment

Shoulder Buddies, fortunately, have many obtainment routes despite their low drop chances per gamemode.

  • AFK World
    • Mythical item with a 0.5% drop chance. I recommend using a World Ticket if you have one available to increase your pull chances.
  • Clan Wars
  • Raids
  • Boss Fights
    • Includes both standard and World Bosses.
  • Matchmaking
  • Trading

Buddies Rerolls

Shoulder Buddies work on an RNG system, meaning you get one and then choose whether to keep it based on its enhancements. Rerolling your Shoulder Buddy means risking obtaining a worse one, or lucking out and getting something better.

Each Shoulder Buddy is unique and fully customised with a rarity, roll chance, and buffs.

What Do Shoulder Buddies Do?

I touched on their capabilities in the Rerolls heading, but Shoulder Buddies are cosmetic equipment that apply enhancements to the player based on their rarity and roll chance.

With 36 in total, there’s one for every player build in Type Soul, regardless of faction, skill tree investments, and other accessories. Typically, a Shoulder Buddy unlocks passives for a player’s Voltstandig, Shikai, or Resurrection.

However, some Buddies take it a step further, adorning their player with Essences and Skill Tree Skills.

Regardless of rarity, Buddies typically increase Mode Gain and reduce Mode Drain, with no influence over a player’s other fundamental stats such as Attack, HP, and Defence.

Hint: If you’re lucky enough to roll a Secret Buddy, you may even adopt a new and powerful move altogether that the majority of players cannot gain otherwise.
