Square Enix is adding another title to its growing list of mobile game shutdowns. They’ve announced the EOS of Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis, which launched in September 2023. The team said that the decision came only after careful consideration and countless internal discussions.
So, when is the Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis EOS?
The game’s service will end on October 6th, 2026, at 11:00 PM PDT for both the Japanese and Global versions, Meanwhile, in-game purchases have already been disabled ahead of the shutdown. Despite the EOS announcement, Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis will still be quite active for the remaining months.
The developers plan to continue releasing new content. One of the biggest remaining pieces of the Final Fantasy VII story, Before Crisis -Final Fantasy VII-, has yet to appear in Ever Crisis. The devs will be releasing that story across three parts between July and August.
The final stretch will also include returning past content so players can revisit everything the game has offered since launch. Guild Battles, the FFVII EC Festival of Gratitude Campaign, a Summer Campaign, and several additional events and campaigns are all arriving before the shutdown.
Even the game’s third anniversary will receive a substantial update. On September 6th, 2026, exactly three years after launch, Ever Crisis will release the final chapter of the Final Fantasy VII saga. It will serve as its major finale.
That anniversary update will also drop new weapons, new gear, fresh seasonal quests, and customization options for specific existing weapons. They will, in turn, introduce new strategies, loadouts, and team compositions.
Why are they shutting it down?
Apparently, it would become increasingly difficult for the devs to provide the level of service expected from a game carrying the Final Fantasy VII name. Although many people are still playing Ever Crisis, balancing production costs with player demand for new character weapons and gear had become increasingly challenging.
Maintaining that visual quality while controlling development costs and preserving gameplay balance proved difficult. All these issues eventually contributed to the decision to close the game. You can learn all about it in the producer’s letter.
