Of the three available rods during the fishing update, the Blox Fruits Shark Rod is regarded as the best. In this guide, I explore the new fishing mechanic and the Shark Rod, telling you how to obtain it, its stats, and why you should choose this one over the others.

Blox Fruits Shark Rod Obtainment

All rods are craftable in the Second Sea and require a visit to the Fisherman NPC, residing at Port Town, Docks 2, and Frozen Village. On initial interaction, he gifts the player a basic Fishing Rod and x10 Basic Baits.

To get the Shark Rod, you must unlock the crafting recipe by completing 15 Angler’s Trust Quests. These unlock after reaching Fishing Level 20.

After this, the Shark Rod is crafted using:

  • x1 Meteorite
    • Drops from the Orbitus boss.
  • x1,000 Fragments
  • x5 Vampire Fangs
    • Drops from Vampires.
  • x7 Wooden Planks
    • 30% drop chance when breaking destructible objects in all three major seas.

Shark Rod Stats

The Shark Rod is easier to obtain than the Gold Rod and is often considered better by a margin. As with all rods, its Mastery Level caps at Level 100.

Fishing in Blox Fruits has a similar mechanic to Fisch. The player controls a bar, aiming to keep the wriggling fish within it whilst a progress bar moves until capture or failure.

The Shark Rod has a small control bar, but keeps fish relatively steady, so they don’t whip around the screen frantically attempting escape. At the same time, the progress bar fills rather quickly, allowing efficient catches whilst speeding up the mastery level grind.

If you want to continue the Angler Questline, I recommend investing in the Shark Rod as it’s cheaper than the Gold alternative and more efficient than the Basic Rod.
