Hiromu Arakawa, best known for creating Fullmetal Alchemist, is getting their latest manga adapted to the screen. An anime adaptation of Daemons of the Shadow Realm is in the works, reveals a new trailer at New York Comic Con.
The series will premiere in April 2026 and air for two consecutive cours. Crunchyroll will stream the anime as it airs. It has confirmed availability across North America, Central and South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, the CIS region, and the Indian Subcontinent.
The series was first announced in July during Anime Expo 2025. Meanwhile, the new Daemons of the Shadow Realm trailer was revealed during Crunchyroll’s panel at New York Comic Con last Thursday.

Masahiro Ando, who directed Sword of the Stranger, is leading the anime at Bones Film, the studio behind Gachiakuta. Noboru Takagi, who worked on Kingdom and Golden Kamuy, is in charge of series composition.
Nobuhiro Arai from Bungo Stray Dogs handles character design and serves as chief animation director. Music comes from Kenichiro Suehiro, who’s known for his work on Golden Kamuy and Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-.
The cast features Kensho Ono as Yuru, Yume Miyamoto as Asa, Yuichi Nakamura as Dera, and Misaki Kuno as Gabu-chan. Additional staff members include Koji Sugiura and Yoshiyuki Ito for Daemon design, Mizuki Sasaki as the CG director and Ayumu Takahashi as editor.
What’s the story?
Daemons of the Shadow Realm takes place in a world where select humans can command supernatural pairs known as Daemons. Twins Yuru and Asa’s mysterious birthright that connects them to a prophecy involving the control of all Daemons.
Hiromu Arakawa began serialising Daemons of the Shadow Realm in Square Enix’s Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine in December 2021. Since then, ten volumes have been released in Japan, with Square Enix Manga & Books handling the English version.
