Action-romance comedy manga Marriage Toxin is heading to television with an anime adaptation scheduled for 2026. The announcement came along with the launch of an official website that dropped a teaser trailer, a visual, and details about the main cast and staff.

Details on the main cast and staff

Studio Bones Film is producing the series, with Motonobu Hori stepping in as director. Hori is known for his work on Carole & Tuesday and Metallic Rouge. Kimiko Ueno, who previously worked on Astro Note and Zenshu, will handle both the scripts and series composition.

Character designs will be by Kohei Tokuoka, who is also acting as chief animation director. The music is composed by Taisei Iwasaki, known for Belle, and Yuma Yamaguchi, known for Metallic Rouge and Link Click.

The anime’s main cast includes Haruki Ishiya and Shion Wakayama. Ishiya has previously worked as Daiya from 86 EIGHTY-SIX, and will voice Hikaru Gero in Marriage Toxin. Wakayama, also known as Momo in Dan Da Dan, will voice Mei Kinosaki.

Joumyaku and Mizuki Yoda created the manga Marriage Toxin. It began serialisation on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ app and website in April 2022. As of August 2025, the series has 14 compiled volumes.

The story has high-stakes action with absurd romantic scenarios. Hikaru Gero is the reluctant heir of the Poison Clan. A top-tier assassin with a life steeped in the underworld, he’s completely inexperienced in romance and awkward around women.

His family declares that if he does not marry and produce an heir, his younger sister will be forced to do so, regardless of her own wishes. To spare her from this, Gero begins his own quest for a bride, even attempting to propose to one of his assassination targets.

This leads him to Mei, a cross-dressing marriage swindler. Mei claims they can seduce anyone, regardless of gender, in under 30 seconds. Though their initial meeting is far from romantic, Mei ends up coaching Gero in love and social skills.
