The Apothecary Diaries anime has officially confirmed its return with a third season and a new film. The team released a second anniversary video, which also included the announcement. It gives us a concrete timeline of what’s coming next.
What do we know about season 3?
It will be split into two parts, with the first airing in October 2026 and the second following in April 2027. Between these two halves, The Apothecary Diaries original anime film will be released in December 2026. Natsu Hyuuga, the light novel’s author, will write it.
The anniversary video features a nostalgic montage of scenes from the first two seasons, paired with their theme songs. It concluded with the major reveal of season 3’s release schedule and the announcement of the upcoming movie. Watch it right here.
On top of that, the series also released a new seasonal visual. It focuses on sweet osmanthus and sweet abs, a subtle nod to its ongoing aesthetic attention to detail.
Where’s the story at?
After a gripping 24-episode second season that expanded Maomao’s world and Jinshi’s secrets, here’s what you can expect next. The third season will take Maomao and Jinshi outside the palace walls for the first time. They’ll encounter commoners and uncover new mysteries tied to a looming disaster and a mysterious shrine maiden.
The production lineup is as follows. Akinori Fukesada, who directed the second season, returns to lead season 3. Norihiro Naganuma, the director of the first season, will direct the December 2026 film.
