Honestly, I’m mostly excited about The Ghost in the Shell!
The new series is based on Masamune Shirow’s original manga, which was first serialised in Kodansha’s YOUNG MAGAZINE between 1989 and 1991. Science SARU is producing the series, Moko-chan is directing it, and Toh EnJoe is writing it.
It will feature character design and chief animation direction by Shuhei Handa. The team will reveal more details, including the exact premiere date, on the official website and social media channels as the launch approaches.
Meanwhile, the legacy of Ghost in the Shell continues to thrive on the big screen. To mark the 30th anniversary of the 1995 classic directed by Mamoru Oshii, its 4K Remastered Edition will return to Japanese theatres. It’s for a limited two-week run beginning October 31st.
The revival project is organised by Filmarks, Japan’s largest review platform for film, television, and anime. As part of the celebration, the original 1995 theatrical pamphlet for Ghost in the Shell will also be faithfully reproduced and made available for the first time in three decades.
You can get more info on the upcoming series on the official Science SARU website or on the 4K edition on the official site.
