Uma Musume Pretty Derby Sparks Guide

Sparks contribute to long-term play and help you achieve the perfect parent Legacy Uma. Creating a Legacy Uma requires a lot of time, planning, and unfortunately… Luck.

When ending careers, the game rolls new stats, choosing a random Spark and applying new grading values to it. There’s no easy way about it, but there are some tricks to aiming for the best.

Blue Sparks

Ultimately, Blue Stars are determined at random, but your goal should be to get a 9-Star Uma with a 3-star Blue Spark, and two parent Umas with 3-star Blue Sparks each for the Uma to inherit.

When you finish a career, the game rolls a Speed Spark. This Blue Spark is RNG-based, but essential for building your Legacy Uma since Speed and Stamina are the most versatile traits for an Uma to have per race.

Blue Sparks Odds

  • 1-STAR
    • Less than 600 Speed: 90%
    • 600-1100 Speed: 50%
    • More than 1100 Speed: 20%
  • 2-STARS
    • Less than 600 Speed: 10%
    • 600-1100 Speed: 45%
    • More than 1100 Speed: 70%
  • 3-STARS
    • Less than 600 Speed: 0%
    • 600-1100 Speed: 6%
    • More than 1100 Speed: 10%

I recommend ending careers with over 600 Speed and hoping you get lucky in that the game is rolling new Blue Sparks.

Pink Sparks

Pink Sparks determine an Umas attitude and toughness, with loose grading that buffs during inspirational runs and at the start of races. You always receive one at the end of a career, and it is chosen from an existing aptitude in which you have an A or higher.

Pink works on an Umas terrain and distance, and is ideal to train since it has a large impact on racing stats overall.

Like Green and White Sparks, this Spark is picked randomly by the game, but has a better chance of upgrading with more stars.

Green Sparks

Green Sparks dictate an Umas Ult Skill. At three stars or higher, it will pass down to other Umas during events such as inspirational runs.

Like Pink and White Sparks, this Spark is picked randomly by the game, but has a better chance of upgrading with more stars.

White Sparks

  • Skill Sparks – Good for Legacy Parents and using a Skill without the Support Cards with said Skill.
    • 20% creation chance for each Skill bought during a career.
    • The skill becomes purchaseable or discounted during inspiration events.
    • Gold Border skills have a 40% chance.
    • Double Circle Skills (Bought twice) have a 25% chance.
  • Race Sparks
    • 20% chance of creation for each G1 Win, including the URA Finale.
    • Each G1 has a different Spark.
    • Inspiration event race sparks give 2 stat boosts, or 1 stat boost + 1 skill.

Like Green and Pink Sparks, this Spark is picked randomly by the game, but has a better chance of upgrading with more stars.

Is Affinity Important?

Long story short, not really. Affinity has a higher chance to roll sparkle during Inspiration events, but they’re better utilised in the late game or if you want to train a sole, favourite Uma.
