Deadzone: Rogue Has Just Fired onto Steam Early Access – Here’s Why You Should Be Hyped

0

Here at Kongbakpao we’ve played a lot of shooters. But Deadzone: Rogue is possibly the most exciting entry in the genre that we’ve experienced in recent years.

It’s just launched on Steam Early Access, and it’s easy to see why it was wishlisted by over 150,000 people.

Quite simply it offers gunplay that is exciting, tense, and – most importantly – just huge heaps of fun.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

This is a roguelite FPS, but rather than many entries in the genre – where everything feels a little po-faced and dull – Deadzone: Rogue nails the fundamentals so well that every death is never a frustration, but instead just a chance to grow stronger.

The gunplay is perfectly judged. There’s over 30 weapons to choose from, with a range of augments to improve and tweak them as you see fit.

It’s a huge pleasure to adjust your weaponry and approach to make sure you’re getting the most out of every session.

Cast of Critters

Then there’s the cast of enemies, which make every firefight a joy. Each foe has a unique attack pattern which makes every battle you drop into truly unpredictable.

The way your adversaries are mixed and matched causes you to constantly think on your feet – there are no repetitive battles here. Even the many boss battles you face are wildly unpredictable – in a good way.

You don’t have to fight these hordes of enemies alone either, with up to three player co-op supported. We found the best way of playing this was with friends, with the action even more frenetic and fun when our pals were involved.

What Are You Waiting For?

We also appreciated the range of difficulty modes offered so that we felt catered for, even as less experienced hardcore FPS players.

So we think Deadzone: Rogue truly has something for everyone to enjoy, especially as there’s no game over screen here – deaths only help you to get more powerful, ultimately.

There are already two chapters available in the Early Access build, so make sure you check it out on Steam right now, and there’s also an official Discord server set up for the game you should join.
