Understanding The Stamina Mechanics

image shows a labelled stamina bar from a player inside the gates at the start of a race.

The Stamina bar remains on the screen throughout an entire race. Each part controls something different and vital to your run.

  • Blue bar: The overall Stamina allowance.
  • Yellow bar: The player’s current Speed in motion.
  • White bar: How quickly the player can run before consuming Stamina (blue bar).

When gaining speed, the yellow bar will increase, and the player will run quicker. Beyond the white line, the Stamina bar (blue) drains in exchange for a quicker run. If the Stamina bar (blue) drains entirely, the player will run out of Stamina temporarily and jog whilst regaining their Stamina bar.

Controlling Stamina

Controlling Stamina means knowing when to run at full speed and knowing how to recover if you completely drain your Stamina.

For the start of a race, I recommend following behind the pack and keeping your Stamina bar. This means running at a speed no faster than the white bar allowance.

You gain a small Stamina buff if you slipstream behind another player, so it benefits you to keep up with the pack from behind until the final moments.

When nearing the finish line, or if the Umas ahead are gaining stud distance, begin using your full sprint to keep up. Whilst running, watch your Stamina bar. When it has roughly 1/4 left, stop sprinting to let your speed bar fall below the white line again. This will prevent you from losing all momentum to Stamina Drain, and you’ll recover quicker.

You can also Spurt twice during a race by pressing R. This move lunges you forward at unparalleled speed if you need to keep up or gain distance.

With some practice, you’ll master Stamina in no time and be a winning Uma!
