My Hero Academia’s final season is moving faster toward its end than many of us expected. The anime, which began its last run on October 4th, 2025, as part of the Fall 2025 lineup, has confirmed the total number of episodes for the eighth and final season. Keep reading to get the full scoop.

The confirmation came shortly after the release of the sixth episode. It arrived alongside a new special trailer marking the start of the series’ climactic phase. The series had 13 episodes in Season 1, 25 episodes in Seasons 2 through 6, and 21 episodes in Season 7.

How many episodes will My Hero Academia’s final season have?

It’s much less than the last few seasons. Season 8 will have a total of 11 episodes. That means there are only five episodes left before the story officially concludes. It also makes the finale shorter than the usual 12 or 13-episode format viewers were anticipating.

My Hero Academia: Final Season adapts Kohei Horikoshi’s manga from volumes 40 to 42, covering chapters 399 to 431. Horikoshi himself has been closely involved in the anime’s production since July 2025, providing new original scenes that were not part of the manga’s publication.

Produced by Bones Film and directed by Kenji Nagasaki, with Naomi Nakayama joining as director, the season picks up immediately after the events of season 7. Izuku Midoriya faces Tomura Shigaraki in what could be his final stand, while All Might and All For One continue their long-standing rivalry.

Despite the short run, there’s hope that the last few episodes will deliver an ending worthy of one of the most influential anime. My Hero Academia’s final season is now officially in its climax. If you haven’t watched it yet, check it out here.
