Choosing Your Race

  • Fiend
    • Difficulty: Hard
    • Stats: + Boosted Regeneration, – Reduced Health
    • Synopsis: A corpse inhabited by a devil, retaining fragments of humanity but fueled by unnatural power.

Fiend Explanation: Fiends cannot utilise Devil Contacts, and will experience a much more linear gameplay versus Humans. You can change your Fiend ability and appearance using Fiend Rerolls, obtained via Codes and Robux.

Fiend skills offer a base moveset that the player must upgrade to fully realise and wield. This lineage also cannot equip their own weapons, as they have a more finite roster which they can use, versus the Humans, who can craft different weapons and types.

  • Human
    • Difficulty: Normal
    • Stats: + Boosted Health, + Contract Reliant
    • Synopsis: Ordinary mortals who rely on grit, training, and contracts to survive.

Human Explanation: This lineage offers no self-regen, so to balance it, Humans have higher HP. Their strength is derived from the Contracts they forge with different Devils, and how well they train their skills (Weapons and Contracts).

This lineage is more versatile than Fiends, giving players the choice of which Devil power they exploit for combat. So long as the Devil wants to contract with the player, and they complete its task.

Choosing Your Division

After loading into the game, speak with the Kintoki NPC and complete his quest to speak with each of the 6 Division Captains.

After this, return to Kintoki and complete the following quests, which unlock your Phone (access to Skill Trees, Missions, and Codes), and then you’ll have the option to choose your Captain.

Your choice in Division should be determined based on which Captain description most fits your preferred playstyle. There isn’t a best Division to choose, and your enlistment will only decide what style of quests you’ll take on during the game.

Weapon Selection

Between choosing your Captain and completing the Kintoki Tutorial quests, you’ll head into the Armoury to choose a weapon. In the early game, your choice isn’t super vital, but your options are as follows:

  • Light Weapon: Kitchen Knife
  • Medium Weapon: Katana
  • Heavy Weapon: Broad Axe
  • Firearms: 1991
  • Martial Arts: No choice/Fist

Missions

To obtain Items, EXP, Skill Points, etc, you will need to complete Missions. To begin a Mission Campaign, open your Phone, select Missions, and choose from the options:

  • Cleanup Duty
    • Clean up after a successful hunt from another squad, and deliver the Devil remnants safely to a drop area.
  • Hold The Line
    • Defend an area from an infiltrating Devil. Leaving the zone results in a failure.
  • Aftermath Detail
    • Eliminate threats, recover victims, and restore in a hostile PvE environment.

Outside of the HQ, you can do Quests for NPCs, which you find around the city.

During Missions, there’s a chance for another player to invade, and you must fight them off whilst still completing the overall Mission Overview. If you die to the player, you will automatically fail the Mission. Likewise, you may need to invade other players during quests on occasion.

Stars and Ranking Up (+ Stats)

To rank up, you need to reach all 5 Stars. Stars are earned via EXP gain. Some Stars also have objectives for the final step before prestige.

Dying to a Devil will make you lose Stars depending on the rank of that Devil.

Each Star allows the player 5 Stat points to invest into a series of attributes:

  • Sanity: Increases Contract Devil DMG and the Red Soul Bar.
  • Technique: Increases Skill DMG and improves Precision and Advanced Technique Skills.
  • Resistance: Reduces the impact of Status Effects and Contract Debuffs.
  • Speed: Increases the player’s Movement Speed and unlocks invisible dashes (when battling slower targets). Also enhances Speed-based Skills.
  • Health: Increases the player’s Maximum Health allowance and improves defensive skills.
  • Strength: Increases overall raw Weapon DMG and enhances Weapon-based Skills.

Yakuza Base

From HQ, head right and follow the road to the end. Then, take a left and pass the NARA Cosmetics store and the Skateboard store.

Head left at the bottom of the street, and you’ll see a building on the left with yellow lettering. Inside is the Yakuza stronghold.

To qualify for the Yakuza, you must first become a Junior Hunter and then complete a quest assigned by the Yakuza Leader to eliminate a Public Safety Player and earn money for the organisation.

If you choose to enlist in the Yakuza, you’ll be locked out of certain Contracts, including: Curse, Future, and Shark. However, you’ll gain access to Snake, Zombie, and the Katana Man Hybrid.

Once in the Yakuza, you cannot leave.

Tips and Tricks

  • Locating Missions:
    • Opening your Phone will display a red marker on the map for where your Mission is located.
  • Wall Running:
    • If you press Spacebar (Jump) whilst on a wall, you’ll begin to Wall Run.
    • For more Controls, check out my complete Controls guide.
  • Skill Tree:
    • Press N to open your Phone and then select the Skill Tree app. Here you can browse all the Skills and their requirements. You can learn a maximum of 6 Skills.
  • Contracts:
    • Occasionally, you’ll see a red marker and a door spawned on the side of random buildings. If you approach these, you’ll be offered a Contract with a random Devil in exchange for doing a quest for them.
