The Ghost in the Shell Anime’s New Trailer Reveals Its Release Date

Science SARU’s new take on The Ghost in the Shell has released a new trailer. It drops a bunch of details about what the studio is cooking up with Masamune Shirow’s legendary cyberpunk manga.

First of all, the anime is set to premiere on July 7th, 2026. Streaming is confirmed worldwide on Prime Video, except in Russia and China. In Japan, it’ll also broadcast on Kanai TV and Fui TV, and new episodes will air every Tuesday at 11 PM JST.

The new video shows the gritty cyberpunk atmosphere people associate with Ghost in the Shell. Several scenes appear to be pulled directly from the original manga panels. Watch it right here!

Alongside the new trailer, the production team also revealed a third key visual showing off the members of Public Security Section 9. The artwork is by Nao Naito, who is working as chief animation director together with Shuhei Handa on the series.

Mokochan, who previously worked as assistant director on Dan Da Dan, is directing the series. Toh Enjoe, known for Godzilla Singular Point, is handling series composition and scripts. Character designs and chief animation direction are by Shuhei Handa from Scott Pilgrim Takes Off.

The music lineup includes Taisei Iwasaki from Metallic Rouge, alongside Ryo Konishi and YUKI KANESAKA from Dr. STONE. Iwasaki takes the credit as music director.

Before the actual TV debut, the series is getting its world premiere at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France. The festival runs in Annecy, from June 21st through June 27th, 2026.

The first two episodes will play as part of the festival’s Special Events program under the session title Dive into THE GHOST IN THE SHELL. You can learn all about it on the official website.
