On June 7th, anime fans and shark movie fans are being brought together for a simultaneous cheer screening. It includes the King Of Prism: Your Endless Call anime and the 2018 disaster movie The Last Sharknado: It’s About Time. The latter was released in Japan under the title Sharknado 6: Last Chainsaw.
How did it even happen?
It all started because of a column written for Eiga Natalie by Shark Movie Rookie, a buyer and translator known for specialising in shark movies. The article, titled All Roads Lead to Shark Movies(?), argued that movies people would never normally connect to shark cinema can still fit into the same strange category.
According to the piece, the King Of Prism: Your Endless Call anime movie creates the same kind of brain-melting entertainment feeling as an absurd shark movie. The logic? Because of excessive theatrics and over-the-top production.
Once people started noticing the similarities, the connection between the two films apparently became impossible to ignore. In King Of Prism: Your Endless Call – Everyone Shine! Prism☆Tours, SePTENTRION uses a time machine to travel across different worlds and eras connected to prism shows.
Meanwhile, Sharknado 6: The Last Chainsaw is about battling sharks across space and time. Somehow, the two plots ended up sounding weirdly compatible.
Eiga Natalie is organising the screening
It will take place at Ikebukuro HUMAX Cinemas in Tokyo, specifically Cinema 1, on Sunday, June 7th, 2026. This is not a normal movie screening, though.
It is being held as a dual cheer screening, a format popular in Japan where audiences are encouraged to actively participate instead of quietly sitting through the movie. People can cosplay, shout reactions, sing along, cheer for characters, and make as much noise as they want during the films.
