EXP is the backbone of your Battle Pet progression, turning even Common Pets into fearsome adversaries to opposing players. That’s why I’ve created this How to earn EXP in Battle Pet guide, based on my own gameplay experience.

How To Earn EXP in Battle Pet
EXP manifests in many ways, including:
- Battling/Play
- An obvious one, but you earn EXP each time you send your Pets into combat. Whether you win or lose, you’ll find yourself a few EXP richer. Though scoring the win will accumulate more EXP.
- Chests
- On occasion, a PvP battle will have a Chest up for grabs, which the winner takes for themselves. After winning the Chest, you can open it once a small wait time elapses, giving you a choice between several possibilities, including EXP, Pets, Hats, and more.
- Career Index
- As you unlock new Pet species through stealing and Chest opens, you’ll unlock their information within the Career Index, which awards a small sum of EXP per first discovery.
- Selling Pets
- If you have some Pets you know you won’t use again in your team, you can sell them and gain back some EXP. The higher the pet level, the more EXP you earn.
- Offline Rewards
- Battle Pet generates EXP whilst you’re away, so you’ll accumulate a sum to come back to, which is good for a quick investment boost in your team before playing again.
- Robux
- Not a sponsorship, but if you want effortless EXP, you could invest Robux into one of the many EXP bundles via the in-game shop.
Why You Need EXP
A pet’s rarity isn’t all you need to consider when making your team. Their skills, health, and damage are all far more important.
For example, the uncommon Turtle is a popular early-game Pet due to its tanky nature, having a lot of HP that makes it hard to defeat. That said, it deals very little damage, so requires levelling up to gain more attacking power, or synergised pets and hats that offer damage multipliers.
This means the uncommon Turtle can take down stronger opponents, such as Camels, Lemurs, Turkeys, etc, thanks to its higher level.
In short, EXP enhances the base DMG and Health of a Pet, without considering the buffs they gain from their skills and fellow teammates. A higher-level pet makes all the difference between a win and a loss.
