Another one bites the dust! That too, in just six months. Yes, Girls’ Frontline: Fire Control is shutting down just six months after launching. Looks like the newest spin-off in the Girls’ Frontline franchise just didn’t work out.
The third-person shooter launched as an Open Beta for Android on November 27th, 2025, targeting Southeast Asia players outside of Vietnam. It’s developed in Unity 3D by Hecate Games, an internal studio of Sunborn, and published by Darkwinter Software.
The title was an attempt to take the popular tactical RPG series into a more action-oriented direction. The game later expanded to iOS in early 2026, while a PC version remained in development.
Girls’ Frontline: Fire Control is an action-focused shooter featuring third-person combat, a roguelike-inspired tactical chip system, and MOBA-style 5v5 multiplayer modes. The game’s story centres on higher-dimensional battlefields where the fabric of world lines was collapsing.
So, when is Girls’ Frontline: Fire Control shutting down?
Girls’ Frontline: Fire Control will officially terminate all operations on August 26th, 2026. Prior to that, on July 24th, all top-up channels will close, and new account registrations will end. Also, they will remove the app from the App Store and the Google Play Store on the same day.
Meanwhile, the news came as no surprise to players. Since it was released exclusively in SEA, it was aimed to function largely as a testing environment for future projects of the franchise. Some are saying that it’s a testing ground for what would eventually become GFL: Blue Butterfly Contract. Others pointed to GFL: Lunasia Covenant as the likely successor.
Fire Control was doomed to be shut down. The shooting mechanics were pretty bad. Players frequently complained about the auto-aim systems, which were overly aggressive and movement that felt clunky. So, it’s not a disappointment that the game is ending its run so soon.
