A new look for the upcoming television anime Hono no Tokyujo: Dodge Danko is out! The teaser visual drops alongside confirmation of the main cast and creative team. The project brings to the screen Tetsuhiro Koshita’s ongoing manga. It tells the story of the next generation of a dodgeball legacy that began decades ago.
Hono no Tokyujo: Dodge Danko serves as a continuation of Koshita earlier work. It follows the daughter of the central character from his 1989 manga Hono no Tokyuji: Dodge Danpei. That original series ran in Shogakukan CoroCoro Comic magazine from 1989 to 1995.
It later received a 47-episode anime adaptation that broadcast from October 1991, in addition to spawning several video games. The sequel manga, subtitled Dodge Danko, has been serialised on the Weekly CoroCoro Comic website since November 2022.
Set in the Reiwa era, the new story focuses on Ichigeki Danko, daughter of Ichigeki Danpei. She takes on the challenge of building the strongest dodgeball team in contemporary times while carrying forward her father’s competitive spirit.
But let’s talk about the new visual for Hono no Tokyujo: Dodge Danko
The teaser visual presents the five members of the Kyugakawa Fighting Ball Club. They’re stepping confidently into the street, with the tagline ‘Deliver a blow to this boring world,’ underscoring the show’s energetic tone.
Manaka Nakayama will voice the role of Danko Ichigeki, marking her first leading role in an anime production. Joining her are Kaori Maeda as Chinko Kobotoke, a fellow member of the Kyugakawa Fighting Ball Club and daughter of Kobotoke Chinen.
The remaining cast includes Akira Sekine as Mochiko Etai, Yo Taichi as Susan Canon, and Yu Sasahara as Honey Otohana. Noriko Hidaka participates as the narrator and will also portray Ippei Danpei as a child. She previously played the same characters in the earlier anime adaptation Dodge Danpei: Blazing Ball Player.
Hiroshi Ikehata is directing the adaptation, while Kazuho Hyodo is handling the series composition. Hono no Tokyujo: Dodge Danko will air in 2026. You can learn more about it on the official X account.
