Obtaining The Onsen Egg Recipe
During the Winter Event, you’ll receive a gossip sidequest to speak with the Naughty NPC, who is on the wooden docks leading down to the Old Beach at Onsen.
He requests you find and take pictures of all 16 eggs hidden around Onsen in exchange for Gold, Wishing Stars, Tokens, and the Onsen Egg Recipe.
This is currently the only way to get this recipe in the game.
Egg and Snowman Hunt
Each Egg spawns around Onsen, and after taking a picture, a corresponding Snowman Bubble will appear somewhere on the map with a furniture item of the found coloured egg.
This extra hunt is optional, and the bubbles won’t despawn until after the Winter Event, so you don’t need to immediately complete it either.

How I Made The Onsen Egg in Heartopia
After snapping the 16th picture, Naughty will call and hand over the recipe. You can either learn it on the spot, or it will be sent to your warehouse, which you access from your home plot.
Either way, once learned, speak to Massimo and purchase Pasturised Eggs for 100 Gold. After this, visit the hot baths at Onsen, near where you start the bug-catching event. You’ll see baskets in the water where you can cook the Onsen Egg.
Onsen Egg Selling Prices
User ShouldYouNeedUs86 on Reddit figured out the selling prices for Onsen Eggs of all qualities.
- 1-Star: 130 Gold
- 2-Star: 195 Gold
- 3-Star: 260 Gold
- 4-Star: 520 Gold
- 5-Star: 1,040 Gold
Farming Onsen Eggs
So now you have the recipe, you might be wondering how profitable it is. From the star chart above, you will always net at least 30 Gold per Egg cooked and sold. And more for higher stars.
This doesn’t seem like a lot, but there are several baskets around Onsen, and the Onsen Egg has two perks while cooking.
First, you don’t need to interact with the egg when it’s cooking, meaning there’s no pressure of the minigame while farming.
Second, the Onsen Egg cooks very quickly, in around 10 seconds~. This means if you huddle around areas with several baskets, you can keep filling baskets, collecting eggs, and repeating to quickly cook them all on rotation.
