Meet the Lover’s Enigma Characters – Four Love Interests

0

Miyuki, a broken marriage, a cult, and becoming a widow. Lover’s Enigma goes from 0 to 100 in no time. Interested? You can download the demo via Steam, and while you’re there, add it to your wishlist.

Welcome to Lover’s Enigma

As Miyuki, you meet four characters, each of which can be hard to read. Some have your best interests in mind, others are working against you. It’s a truly psychological experience.

Meet the Leads

The cast of main characters determines which endings you unlock. How you interact with them can make a huge difference to the outcome. As you spend time with them, your affection increases. The closer you are to them, the more exclusive CGs you unlock.

They’re all mysterious in their own way, and it’s up to you to find out what they might be hiding.

Haruki Haruki from Lover's Enigma.

After experiencing spiritual occurrences, you meet Haruki, the exorcist. Your mother hired him to help out. A strange being indeed, quirky overall, but he seems more or less harmless.

Ryota

Ryota from Lover's Enigma.

The childhood friend of Lover’s Enigma. Due to the history between you both, he cares for you, though he can seem a little standoffish and awkward at times. Your mother prefers him to you.

Renjiro

Renjiro from Lover's Enigma.

Renjiro, also known as Ren, is your neighbour. He’s… not the nicest person around, but you rarely run into him anyway. When you have the pleasure of interacting with him, he’s snappy and sarcastic. Still, there’s something about him that draws you in.

Kazuki

Kazuki from Lover's Enigma.

Your late husband. He passed away a few months ago, but official reports state that Kazuki took his own life. You reject this idea, as you know he would never do that.

A Variety of Endings

The mobile rhythm game in Lover's Enigma. The main character, Miyuki, is to the side looking solemn.

As a visual novel, Lover’s Enigma places you at the helm. Every decision is yours to make. Whether you want to deepen your connection with each character or shut them out, it’s your choice.

There are 10 endings to reach, all of which are determined by your actions during the playthrough.

Due to the nature of the game, you have to manage Miyuki’s sanity. To do this, you must play a rhythm mini-game via her mobile phone. This shakes up the formula a little, putting you to the test when taking care of Miyuki.

A Purposeful Art Style

A dialogue scene with Ryota from Lover's Enigma. He smiles at you.

Featuring both monochromatic and coloured scenes, Lover’s Enigma is a stylish title, with intricately designed characters and settings.

The visuals match the dark romance themes, adding to the game’s heavy psychological element.

It’s unsettling in ways, charming in others. And I love it. It leans on the digital concept, with gritty backgrounds, pixelated sprites and dialogue boxes, with the inclusion of an interactable mobile phone.

The darkness of the art style suits the game, representing Miyuki’s trauma, as her sanity is slowly chipped away.

Keep up to date with Lover’s Enigma by supporting the game on Kickstarter. I’ve played the demo and enjoyed every minute of it.

It’s one of the most interactive visual novels I’ve experienced recently, and for fans of otomes, psychological stories, and deeply complex characters, it’s perfect.
