First announced in June 2025, Towa no Yugure, also known as Dusk Beyond the End of the World, has dropped a new trailer. It’s actually the anime’s first full trailer, setting up the post-apocalyptic romance.
It’s P.A. Works’ upcoming original series
Episode 0 is scheduled to air on September 25th, 2025, with the official broadcast beginning a week later on October 2nd. The main cast features Shuuichirou Umeda as Akira Himegami, Yui Ishikawa as Yugure, and Ai Kayano as Towasa Oumaki.
The series is directed and written by Naokatsu Tsuda, with original character designs by Midori Tayama and anime character design by Yoshiko Saitō. Music is composed by Masaru Yokoyama, and the production is handled by P.A. Works, known for consistently strong visuals in their originals.
P.A. Works is producing it as part of their 25th anniversary projects. The new Towa no Yugure trailer shows the relationship between a boy from the past and the android who carries a connection to the girl he once loved. Watch it right here!
The trailer gives a first look at the devastated world setting and the main characters Akira and Yugure. It also shows off the character designs, which may seem quite familiar since Tayama is also the creator of the manga Girl Crush.
It’s a mix of a love story and dystopian sci-fi
The story follows high schooler Akira Himegami, who wakes up after a long cryogenic sleep to find himself in a world destroyed by war. Nations have fallen, cities lie in ruins, and humanity now lives under the strict control of an organisation called OWEL.
In this future, even marriage has been replaced by a new system called Elsie. While Akira struggles to take in this new reality, he encounters an android named Yugure. She looks exactly like his girlfriend Towasa Oumaki.
To his shock, Yugure proposes to him the moment they meet. Though stunned, Akira agrees to journey with her while holding onto hope that the real Towasa may still be alive. You can learn more about the upcoming broadcast here.
