Hideo Kojima’s world of Death Stranding is branching out in new directions once again. It’s an animated movie this time, titled Death Stranding: Mosquito. The project has been officially announced, with a first teaser already online.
The film will be directed by Hiroshi Miyamoto, the filmmaker behind Pretty Cure Dream Stars! The movie will also mark the first production for ABC Animation Studio, a new division set up within ABC Animation. Also, the studio is producing the film in collaboration with Hollywood.
Hideo Kojima himself is on board as producer. The screenplay will be handled by Aaron Guzikowski, who is best known for Prisoners, Papillon, and the TV series Raised by Wolves. The background art is created by Studio Easter, which previously worked on titles such as Dandadan.

The teaser for Mosquito sets an eerie mood right from the start. It begins with a man submerged in water and later introduces a strange protagonist, apparently nicknamed Mosquito. He wears a peculiar mask with the unsettling ability to suck something from others’ bodies. Cringe! But take a look at it right below.
Kojima Productions revealed the footage during the Beyond the Strand event. They mentioned that the film will have a fresh story that exists alongside the established world of Death Stranding, but doesn’t retell events from the games.
Though the title of the movie, Death Stranding: Mosquito may change, the official poster currently carries it. At this point, no release timeframe has been confirmed, and details about the cast and full storyline remain under wraps.
