Blade & Soul Heroes, also known as Hoyeon, is shutting down. It’s been just over a year, and the game is already calling it quits. Although not big of a surprise, it’s still a bit disappointing to see titles come and go in such a short period.
When exactly is Blade & Soul Heroes shutting down?
The game that began its run in August 2024 is ending its service on February 19th, 2026. Sales of paid products have stopped after regular maintenance on December 17th, 2025.
The official Discord server will remain open slightly longer before ending on December 26th, 2025. On the day service ends, that’s on February 19th, 2026, game app downloads will be disabled, and all services will stop.
The official website operation will be completely terminated on April 20th, 2026. You’ll still be able to access the Blade & Soul Heroes (Hoyeon) service up until February 19th, 2026.
Honestly, it’s not a surprise that Blade & Soul Heroes is shutting down. NCSoft is known for its notorious reputation, particularly its pay-to-win models. Which is why most players weren’t excited about the game when it first dropped.
The game struggled almost immediately in its first launch regions, which included Korea, Japan, and Taiwan. The response to the global release was even worse. NCSoft’s poor customer service, minimal community engagement, and sloppy localisation all contributed to it.
Also, during its pre-release phase, the devs stated that Blade & Soul Heroes was not aimed at subculture or anime fans. The comment sparked heavy backlash from players as the game’s art style screams to target anime gamers directly.
