The Dragon Ball anime franchise is officially set to return with multiple new projects! The most exciting part of the news is the announcement of Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol. It will be the first full sequel to the Dragon Ball Super television anime in more than eight years.

Akira Toriyama is behind the original work, story, and character design

The reveal took place during the Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri event at Makuhari Messe in Japan. It’s an event celebrating the series’ 40th anniversary. The new anime was confirmed to be in production and was positioned as the pinnacle of an anniversary initiative that originally began in 2024.

The announcement was made during the opening live stage segment titled Exclusive Announcements! GENKIDASTAGE Part 1. Masako Nozawa, the Japanese voice actress for Son Goku, and Akio Iyoku, Executive Producer of the Dragon Ball series, announced the sequel.

Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol continues the story after the Tournament of Power, also known as the Universe Survival Arc. It aired as part of the Dragon Ball Super anime between 2015 and 2018.

Manga readers already know this storyline as the Galactic Patrol Prisoner Arc. In this chapter of the series, Son Goku and Vegeta join forces with members of the Galactic Patrol, the peacekeeping organisation of the galaxy. They face a new threat in the form of Planet-Eater Moro.

And what else is coming up alongside the Dragon Ball Super sequel anime?

Well, well, well, there’s a lot! The event also unveiled a brand new game titled AGE1000 and confirmed the development of a Dragon Ball Super: Beerus remake TV anime. Catch a glimpse of the latter in the latest trailer below.

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus features extensive new cuts, revisions to existing scenes, and a complete re-rendering of all footage. It also includes newly recorded dubbing with added score and sound effects and a full reconstruction of the story.
