Aniplex and Shirogumi revealed a new animated initiative for the iconic Kamen Rider franchise. The announcement came during a special event held for the 55th anniversary of the tokusatsu superhero series produced by Toei Company and Ishimori Productions. It’s a new animation label titled The Kamen Rider Animated.

Here’s what’s been revealed for The Kamen Rider Animated till now!

It will bring the franchise into animation with projects that will aim to reach viewers who may not already be familiar with the series. The team has planned projects under this label for both Japanese and international audiences. Also, the lineup will include both brand-new stories and animated versions connected to earlier entries in the Kamen Rider series.

As part of the initiative, Aniplex and Shirogumi are co-producing the first project under The Kamen Rider Animated label. This first project will be a completely original work intended for worldwide distribution and will be produced using computer graphics.

However, the project will not aim for a typical CG-look 3D style. Instead, it will focus on graphical CG animation that will resemble familiar manga-style visuals. The title and story details for the project have not yet been revealed.

Also, they’ve only released an image with a probable (or final) logo for the initiative. You can check the official post on their X account.

The Kamen Rider franchise began in 1971, created by manga artist Shotaro Ishinomori. The original story follows Takeshi Hongo, a motorcyclist who is unwillingly turned into a super-powered cyborg by the villainous organisation Shocker.

The series went on to grow into a major media franchise with tokusatsu television shows, films, manga, anime, and video games. The Kamen Rider media typically focuses on motorcycle-riding heroes. They have insect-inspired designs and battle supervillains  referred to as kaijin (strange person).
