Mongil: Star Dive is the newest release from Netmarble across Android, iOS, and PC through a client and Epic Games distribution. It’s a successor to Monster Taming, the 2013 title that helped establish Netmarble’s presence in mobile RPGs.
Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, Mongil: Star Dive revisits monster-collecting mechanics. But it’s a more action-driven game with real-time character switching and team-based combat.
Mongil: Star Dive has a monster-taming system, but is an action RPG
You collect hundreds of creatures and fill out a Monster Codex while progressing through a story-driven adventure. Combat involves a triple-tag team system where you switch between characters during battles to trigger Tag Skills.
The story follows Cloud and Verna alongside their companion Nyanners, a mysterious cat-like creature. They travel through a world populated by humans, monsters, elves, and beastkin.
You are free to progress at your own pace, with no competitive pressure or requirement to rush through content. Mongil: Star Dive promotes exploration and gradual discovery across its setting. The overall presentation is colourful and intentionally playful.
Will you get it?
At launch, Mongil: Star Dive introduces a new character named Esther. She’s the mascot of the Maid and Clover Inn. An event recruitment banner featuring Esther is now live with a rate increase. In addition, logging in gets you another character named Francis.
The monster collection system is part of the progression. Nyanners play a key role in capturing creatures throughout the world. These monsters provide rewards that you can use to recruit additional characters.
