Best 9.5 Units In Anime Vanguards
Horse Girl
Horse Girl excels at longer battle modes, such as infinite, due to how her skills synergise and enhance during extended play. She takes a long time to build up and upgrade after placement, but is a powerful DPS if you take the time to invest in her.
Unit Passives
- Horse Girl Racing
- When this unit spawns, pick between 4 racers: Scientist (Crit), Joy (Cost), Au Boat (Damage), and Concert (Speed). Each racer specialises in a different stat, and spending Actions will increase that stat.
- Moody
- After choosing a stat, that stat’s chance to fail increases. If the unit fails, her mood decreases.
- Mood: Increases Stat growth, Increases chance to succeed. Spend one action point to rest and restore Mood.
- World Champion
- When all 4 stats are maxed: Gain +100% DMG, and Runs x2 Faster.
- When set to auto, it selects the stat the racer specialises in.
Unit Drawbacks
The main drawback of Horse Girl is that her fun and unique setup takes a long time to max out and fully realise. This means she’s only versatile in long game modes. As of UPD 9.5, Anime Vanguards primarily only offer shorter game modes.
Unstable (Psychosis)
Unstable is an excellent DPS unit whose passives effortlessly enhance one another. It also adopts the Unknown Element after proper placement set-up, which makes this unit immune to stuns and enemy-inflicted debuffs.

- Stressful Mind
- This unit has a stress meter. Every enemy that enters this unit’s range increases the meter by 1%.
- When stress reaches 100%: Gains +100% DMG, loses -20% SPA, gains +20% Range, and gains the Unknown Element. The meter depletes at a rate of 3% per second until empty.
- Evil Takes Over
- When the stress meter triggers past wave 20, this unit will no longer leave that mode.
- Unfathomable Power
- While not in stress mode, this unit’s attacks inflict repulse. For every Repulsed Enemy, this unit gains +1% DMG, capping at 100%.
Unit Drawbacks
Similar to Horse Girl, this unit has a longer set-up, which isn’t ideal for most challenge types within Anime Vanguards. Unlike Horse Girl, however, Unstable is much more powerful on placement and offers some nifty passives that don’t rely on wave count and counter.
Ainz (Supreme Being)
The rarest of UPD 9.5! Chances are, this top spot unit doesn’t shock you.
Ainz is incredibly powerful and versatile after the initial setup. His Spell damage is insane, but often has elemental requirements to use, such as non-boss nukes.
Aside from elemental spells, Ainz also has wave-requirement World Items, which are straightforward buffs that grant different enhancements to Ainz and allies, such as total debuff immunity.
For these reasons, Ainz melds into any team with ease, no matter what your prior meta setup was.

- World Saviour
- Every wave increases the damage this would deal by 30%. On activation, it deals this damage to all enemies on the map.
- Branch of Mielikki
- Every unit of the active player becomes permanently immune to status debuffs and status effects.
- Caloric Stone
- Opens a list that allows the player to pick and 1 unit they own and place it.
- Scroll of Man and Nature
- Opens a large circle selector; all units within the circle get moved to a new selected location.
- 11 Elements Overcoming
- Instantly refills all meters on the map.
- Ourobouros
- Input a number of your choice and rewrite reality.
Unit Drawbacks
Ainz isn’t all perfect, having some limitations such as not attacking properly on initial placement. This is due to Spells requiring some elemental source from other units in your arsenal, so he isn’t a good unit to utilise until you’re fully established during a gamemode.
Additionally, you can only reset spells once per game, making him tricky to understand and utilise to his fullest.
