The 5.5th Anniversary Bloom Festival Gacha of Project Sekai aka Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage didn’t go so well. And it has clearly disappointed many players. The developers have responded with an apology statement, which has further drawn criticism.
So, what went wrong in the last Project Sekai Bloom Festival Gacha?
Every year, the Bloomfest Gacha usually includes both festival and permanent cards from previous years. However, this time, multiple Bloom Festival cards and even some permanent cards were not present.
The affected banner in question ran on the Japanese server from December 31st, 2025, to January 4th, 2026, as part of a New Year campaign. Players who pulled for them did so assuming the gacha would work the same way as before, especially since the changes weren’t mentioned beforehand.
The developers emphasised that the issue did not involve altered drop rates, but rather the absence of certain cards entirely. They further described the root cause as human error within the development team.
Now, the biggest disappointment that the announcement brought is about the refunds. The devs clarified that no additional compensation or further apologies would be provided.
They did admit some players might have been aiming for those missing cards, but the chances of actually getting one were extremely low, around 0.007%. Since the odds were so low, it was hard for them to put a real value on that loss.
They also said no one had reported this issue directly before they made their decision, so they treated it as a very small group. Requests from the community for alternative solutions were explicitly addressed and rejected.
