Netflix has outlined how it plans to roll out the next chapter of Steel Ball Run JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. It has confirmed that the anime’s 2nd stage will arrive in Fall 2026 with a weekly episode schedule.
It means that the continuation of the adaptation of Hirohiko Araki’s series will move away from its earlier release style and adopt a more traditional cadence. The first stage premiered on March 19th, 2026, as a single extended episode, which was 47-minutes long.
That release format significantly differed from standard episodic anime distribution and led to some uncertainty among viewers. But now, for the 2nd stage, the full series is being organised as a split-cour release.
Steel Ball Run JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure anime is produced by David Production. Yasuhiro Kimura and Hideya Takahashi are directing it. Series composition is by Yasuko Kobayashi, and character designs are by Daisuke Tsumagari.
What’s the story of Steel Ball Run JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure?
It’s set in September 1890, when riders from across the globe gather in the United States for a transcontinental horse race stretching from San Diego to New York City. There’s a prize of 50 million USD at stake.
The protagonist, Johnny Joestar, is a paraplegic former jockey. He enters the race to learn the Spin technique from Neapolitan racer Gyro Zeppeli after experiencing a brief restoration of his mobility. Although the two begin as rivals, they gradually form a partnership. Together, they navigate a race filled with dangerous competitors and hidden agendas.
The 2nd Stage shifts the focus to a harsh desert crossing spanning roughly 750 miles. This leg of the journey introduces the ominous region known as the Devil’s Palm. You’ll see increasingly unsettling events force Johnny and Gyro to confront the reality that the Steel Ball Run is not simply a competition.
