The World’s Strongest Rearguard: Labyrinth Country’s Novice Seeker anime has shared its first teaser visual. It’s confirmed a July 2026 TV broadcast, and announced its core cast and staff lineup. Keep reading to find out all about it.

The project adapts the Japanese light novel series written by Toowa and illustrated by Huuka Kazabana. The title began as a web novel on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in April 2017. Fujimi Shobo later picked it up for print under the Kadokawa Books imprint in November of the same year.

As of September 2025, nine light novel volumes have been released. Meanwhile, the manga adaptation illustrated by Rikizo started serialisation on Kadokawa Corporation’s ComicWalker service in March 2018 and has reached ten volumes as of January 2026.

Coming back to the anime, MAHO FILM is producing it, with Yuji Yanase (Takeyuki Yanase) directing it. Series composition is by Deko Akao, and Eriko Yanagimoto is overseeing the main character designs.

The main cast includes Yoshitsugu Matsuoka voicing Arihito. His previous roles include Vash in TRIGUN STARGAZE. Terejia is played by Aoi Koga, who previously voiced Kaguya in Kaguya-sama: Love Is War.

The remaining cast includes Sakura Nakamura as Kyoka, Yui Ishikawa as Eritia, and Saori Hayami as Suzuna. They previously played Shiori in This Monster Wants to Eat Me and Kunon in Kunon the Sorcerer Can See, respectively.

The teaser visual of The World’s Strongest Rearguard: Labyrinth Country’s Novice Seeker features the demi-human mercenary girl Theresa engaged in battle. Arihito is behind her, emphasising his role as a support rearguard.

The story focuses on Arihito’s growth alongside a party of heroines. It follows him turning an overlooked support class into a formidable force within the Labyrinth Kingdom. The original novel series has sold over 1.7 million copies, reflecting steady interest leading into the anime adaptation. Learn all about it here.
