The supernatural romance anime Even a Replica Can Fall in Love is now live. I mean, it has started streaming on Crunchyroll, with the first episode dropping on April 7th. It’s a 13-episode run constituting a single-cour season.
The production team just released creditless opening and ending sequences for the Even a Replica Can Fall in Love anime
The opening sequence is set to Refrain performed by shytaupe, while the ending features Awa by asmi. Both sequences are out on YouTube without credits, giving viewers a clearer look at the visual tone of the adaptation as it begins its broadcast run. Watch them right here!
The anime is based on the light novel series Even a Replica Can Fall in Love, written by Harunadon and illustrated by raemz. It follows a premise that blends identity, secrecy, and emotion through the unusual life of its central character, Nao.
The anime adaptation was first revealed during the Dengeki Bunko Winter Festival 2025 livestream in February 2025. It premiered on April 7th, 2026, on AT-X and other networks in Japan. For the global audience, it’s available on Crunchyroll.
Ryuichi Kimura directs the adaptation, while Voil is producing it. Series composition is by Tomoko Shinozuka, who previously worked as a scriptwriter on You are Ms. Servant. Character designs are by Eiji Abiko, and music for the series is composed by Kanako Hara.
What’s the story?
Nao is an artificial duplicate created to act as a stand-in for Sunao Aikawa whenever she chooses to avoid school. Built when Sunao was seven years old, Nao spends years attending classes, participating in daily routines, and reporting everything back.
Over time, that arrangement begins to shift as Nao develops feelings for Shuya Sanada. Her growing emotional life forces her to confront the reality that she isn’t human. It also increases the risk that Sunao may notice subtle changes in her behaviour.
