Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 has dropped a new trailer, ahead of its upcoming release. The season will premiere on January 16th, 2026, under Studio Madhouse. Undoubtedly, it’s one of the most anticipated anime series of 2026.

The production team behind the award-winning manga adaptation is changing slightly this time. Keiichiro Saito, who directed the first season after previously working on BOCCHI THE ROCK!, will not be returning. Instead, Tomoya Kitagawa, is directing it.
Tomohiro Suzuki of One-Punch Man continues handling series composition. Reiko Nagasawa, known for her work on takt op.Destiny, returns to oversee character designs. Violet Evergarden composer Evan Call is once again providing the music for the anime.

Season 2 continues the long trek toward Aureole, a distant northern place said to house the souls of the dead. The story of this world has always revolved around the tension between Frieren’s agelessness and the human lives she crossed paths with.
Fifty years before the current storyline, she and the hero Himmel defeated the Demon King. When she returned after decades of wandering, it was only to witness Himmel’s peaceful death. That regret sets the foundation for her ongoing journey, one.
The new season continues after Fern earns her Mage rank, placing the group firmly in the Continued Northern Travels arc. The trailer also confirms that the ending theme for the upcoming season will be The Story of Us! performed by Milet.
