Well, this one is a bit messy. If you remember, Illusion Connect first launched globally in October 2020 for Android and iOS devices. But then it shut down two years later. And now, the game is making a comeback as Illusion Connect: Re!
Let’s go back in time
In case you’re confused, let me tell you what actually happened and why. The game was originally developed by EFUN and published by Superprism Technology. In December 2022, the game shut down due to heavy monetisation, developer mismanagement, and declining player retention.
It was then that a team of new publishers called Sugargame Network took over the game. They looked at it and decided that the game could have a second chance. By the way, Sugargame serve as both the developer and publisher now.
At the time, it entered the crowded mobile RPG market with a mix of real-time strategy battles and character collection mechanics. Players assembled teams from a growing roster of heroes while battling Nightmares and progressing through the game’s story.
Illusion Connect: Re is reintroducing the original experience on Android and iOS through the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. The returning version offers familiar gameplay elements alongside a continuation of the game’s world and story.
The relaunch restores one of the game’s most recognisable features. A roster of more than 130 illustrated characters. Each character is presented with Live2D animation and comes with unique combat roles, abilities, and personalities.
Apart from combat, you can strengthen relationships with companions to unlock additional abilities. Illusion Connect: Re also has a home customisation system to decorate living spaces with furniture and wallpapers.
