Shueisha Games and Kairosoft are collaborating for an upcoming title. It’s KochiKame: Ryo-san’s Billion-yen Beat, a simulation game based on the popular manga. Currently in development for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch, the game will also launch on additional platforms later.
The project was formally unveiled during Jump Festa 2026 as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the KochiKame manga. First released in 1976, it’s better known as KochiKame: Tokyo Beat Cops in the West.
KochiKame ran for 40 years in Weekly Shonen Jump until 2016. It spans 200 volumes, earning a Guinness World Record for the most volumes published for a single manga series. Set around the Kameari Park police box in Tokyo’s Katsushika ward, the manga follows the comedic exploits of Officer Ryotsu Kankichi.
No release timing has been revealed yet for KochiKame: Ryo-san’s Billion-yen Beat
But Shueisha Games and Kairosoft did drop a trailer giving us a glimpse of what’s in store. The sim follows the protagonist, Officer Ryotsu Kankichi. Known as Ryo-san, he finds himself trying to turn around a failing shopping district while chasing the unlikely goal of building a billion-yen fortune.
Visually, the project reimagines the world of KochiKame through Kairosoft’s signature retro pixel aesthetic. Before I tell you about the features of KochiKame: Ryo-san’s Billion-yen Beat, watch the trailer here.
So, in the game, you scrape together initial funds through gambling and part-time jobs before investing that money into facilities across the shopping district. As development progresses, customer traffic increases and revenue expands.
You also have to lookout for the Chief, who may catch Ryotsu slacking off. The game features over 200 characters, including the entire police box crew. As the district grows, you unlock story events and mini-games that recreate classic episodes from the series.
KochiKame: Ryo-san’s Billion-yen Beat will release across Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, iOS, and Android. You can wishlist it on Steam.
