Two of the major entries from the Trails line are getting another round of releases. The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero and The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure are coming to PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 in Fall 2026.
You get options to grab them separately as digital releases or together as a physical two-game bundle
Handled by NIS America, two of Falcom’s strongest RPGs are arriving on updated platforms. Both games are being upgraded to support 4K resolution and 120fps. There’s also a High-Speed Mode that lets players move through the game at their own pace. And the Nintendo Switch 2 versions also add Mouse Mode support.
As for the story, Trails from Zero kicks off the Crossbell arc, the second arc in the overall Trails series. The setting is Crossbell, a city-state stuck in an ongoing territorial struggle between the Erebonian Empire and the Republic of Calvard.
It follows Lloyd Bannings, who returns home after three years away to join the Crossbell Police Department, hoping to follow in his late brother’s footsteps. But he ends up assigned to the Special Support Section, a new and somewhat overlooked division that handles odd jobs. Check it out on Steam.
Then comes Trails to Azure, which picks things up just a few months after the events of Trails from Zero. Continuing Lloyd Bannings’ story, we see the Special Support Section gaining recognition after its earlier efforts.
But later, multiple groups with their own agendas start to emerge. At the same time, pressure from the Erebonian Empire and the Republic of Calvard continues to build, putting Crossbell in an increasingly fragile position.
On the gameplay side, Trails to Azure expands combat with features like Burst, Back Attack, and even a customizable car. It also includes the ability to import saved data from Trails from Zero, which can unlock additional conversations and alternate dialogue. Check it out on Steam.
That wraps up our scoop on The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero and The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure. Also, read our next story on Melty Blood: Twi-Lumina.
