The historical fiction manga The World Is Dancing is officially getting a TV anime adaptation. The broadcast and streaming are planned for summer 2026 in Japan, and a Q3 2026 premiere window also confirmed.
The announcement arrived alongside a teaser trailer, teaser visual, and a congratulatory illustration by original creator Kazuto Mihara. The production team also launched an official website and social media accounts for The World Is Dancing anime.
Here’s what we know about The World Is Dancing TV anime
Toshimasa Kuroyanagi is directing the anime with character designs by Keigo Sasaki. Calligraphy and title lettering will be by Satoshi Nemoto, and animation production by CygamesPictures. The project is co-produced by CyberAgent and Shochiku, also known for Witch Watch and Violet Evergarden: The Movie.
Yumiri Hanamori has been cast in the lead role as Zeami Motokiyo, known in his youth as Oniyasha. Hanamori is known for roles such as Sagiri Yamada in Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku, Asako Yamagishi in The Summer Hikaru Died, and Ryuji Ayukawa in Blue Period.
The teaser visual centres on Oniyasha and features artwork by Keigo Sasaki. His previous work includes The Millionaire Detective – Balance: Unlimited, Lonely Castle in the Mirror, and Umamusume: Cinderella Gray.
The title lettering uses elegant calligraphy by Satoru Nemoto. Nemoto drew inspiration from Zeami’s writings, including Fushikaden, the oldest Japanese treatise on Noh and acting, and Kakyo. They have both discussed the concept of the flower as a reflection of movement, spirit, and outward presence.
He approached the katakana lettering with flowers as a central motif, shaping brushstrokes to move between literal characters and abstract expression. He did it with the hope that even a small blossom from his work might add meaning to the anime.
