The World Is Dancing Anime Drops a New Teaser Trailer with Cast and Staff Details

The World Is Dancing anime has dropped a new teaser trailer. It offers a glimpse at what studio Cygames Pictures is preparing ahead of its July 2026 broadcast. Alongside confirming the release window, the preview also introduces several additions to both the cast and the creative team behind the project.

The anime centres on the historical roots and artistic evolution of Noh theatre

Five new voice actors have been revealed, expanding on the previously announced casting of Yumiri Hanamori as Oniyasha. The newly announced cast includes Simba Tsuchiya as Ishiya, Maaya Uchida as Kogane, Romi Park as Zojiro, Katsuyuki Konishi as Kan’ami, and Haruki Ishiya as Junigoro.

Toshimasa Kuroyanagi, known for Backflip!!, is directing the production. Series composition is by Sawako Kawamitsu, character designs by Keigo Sasaki, and music is composed by Daisuke Shinoda. Shuhei Fuchimoto is serving as assistant director.

Reijiro Tsumura, a Kanze-school Noh performer and an Important Intangible Cultural Property holder, supervises the Noh choreography. Additional choreography is by dancer Kaiji Moriyama, who directed the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics Opening Ceremony, alongside choreographer Mikiko Kawamura.

Oversight roles also include Noh supervisor Kohei Kawaguchi and history supervisor Katsuyuki Shimizu, with Kan Mizoguchi managing production on the animation side.

The source material comes from Kazuto Mihara, whose manga was serialised in Kodansha Weekly Morning magazine and compiled into six volumes. An English-language edition is also available through Kodansha USA.

Set in 1374 during the prolonged conflict between the Northern and Southern Courts, the story follows a boy named Oniyasha. He was born into a family of sarugaku performers led by his father Kan’ami.

Living in a time shaped by the growing influence of Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, the young protagonist struggles with a persistent question about the purpose of dance. His outlook begins to shift after witnessing a performance he considers genuinely good. Read more about it here.
