Best Mobile GameCygames’ Umamusume: Pretty Derby just won the Best Mobile Game at The Game Awards 2025. Established in 2014, The Game Awards is an annual awards ceremony that honours achievements in the video game industry.

The game is part of the Umamusume Project, the multimedia franchise that includes anime, manga, music, and games. It tells stories about characters inspired by real-world racehorses. It’s a sports life sim scouting featured trainees and supporters, with detailed training systems and 3D races.
In the game, these characters grow alongside classmates and trainers while chasing the dream of reaching the top of the Twinkle Series. Since the Japanese launch in 2021, the game’s mix of training simulation, character drama, and competitive racing has made it a success.
The game also helped branch into music releases, live events, and a rapidly expanding international audience. Cygames America CEO Motohiro Okubo noted that the recognition at The Game Awards reflects both the dedication of the development and operations teams and the global fanbase that has supported the game from the beginning.
The Best Mobile Game accolade at The Game Awards 2025 joins an already long list of industry honours for Umamusume: Pretty Derby. The game has previously taken home the Best Game Award from Google Play and the Excellence Prize at Japan Game Awards.
Umamusume: Pretty Derby also earned Best Mobile Game at Thailand Game Show and multiple Famitsu Awards for its character design, live operations, and community engagement. The game also has good reviews all over, including Overwhelmingly Positive reviews on Steam, a 4.5 out of 5 rating on the App Store, and a 4.4 out of 5 score on Google Play.
