Finally, we have got some news on the Witch Hat Atelier anime! The production team has confirmed that the TV adaptation will reach Japanese broadcast schedules in April 2026. The announcement arrived through the anime’s official website, along with a fresh teaser trailer featuring its lead duo.

The trailer shows Coco, voiced by Rena Motomura, and Qifrey, voiced by Natsuki Hanae. Both actors have done major voice work before. Motomura played Kyoka Kitahara in Maebashi Witches, while Hanae portrayed Tanjiro Kamado in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.

News of the adaptation first surfaced in 2022, and the first official trailer premiered at Anime Expo 2024. The series was previously slated for 2025 before being delayed to next year. Last month, Bug Films addressed the delay, explaining that they needed additional time to ensure the anime could faithfully translate the visual intricacy that defines Shirahama’s artwork.

The story centres on a girl named Coco. She’s raised in a world where spellcraft and dragons are so commonplace that most people no longer find them remarkable. Although she dreams of becoming a witch, she grows up believing that magic is an inherited trait she simply does not possess.

Her perspective changes when she witnesses Qifrey, a travelling magician, perform spellcasting in a way that contradicts everything she thought she knew. It ultimately leads her into an apprenticeship and a desperate attempt to reverse the stone curse she accidentally inflicts on her mother.

The series’ universe has expanded over the years. It also led to the spin-off Witch Hat Atelier Kitchen, which began in Morning Two in November 2019. You can learn more about the manga and the upcoming anime on the official website.
