Another shojo manga is coming to television. It’s From Far Away, which is getting an anime adaptation as part of its 35th anniversary celebrations in 2026. The reveal came alongside the launch of an official website and X account,

Noriyuki Abe will direct the anime. His past work includes titles such as Bleach, The Heroic Legend of Arslan and Yu Yu Hakusho. Watch the From Far Away anime latest trailer here.
The original manga ran in Hakusensha’s Hana to Yume Comics imprint from September 1991 to October 2002. It spanned 14 volumes and reached over 4 million copies in circulation. It was also serialised in the shōjo manga magazine LaLa during the same period. An official English version is available through Viz Media.
The story follows a high school girl named Noriko. She’s suddenly transported into an unfamiliar fantasy world after encountering an explosive paper bag. Once there, Noriko finds herself caught in a chain of events related to an ancient prophecy.
She crosses paths with Izark, a solitary warrior who rescues her, though their connection quickly proves complicated. Despite his outward bravery, Izark harbours a dangerous power that isolates him from others.
He initially seeks to eliminate the prophesied Awakening, only to discover that Noriko is the one foretold. The Awakening is believed to hold control over the Sky Demon, a destructive force feared across kingdoms. The From Far Away anime will offer fantasy, romance, and character-driven storytelling.
