Units (Who To Prioritise)

Aside from any DPS Legendary, Mythic, or Secret units you may find during Summons, you need to balance your team with Supports. I recommend Speedcart, as he is the only Farm unit on release, making him the automatic meta despite only being Epic rarity. This means he’s easier to obtain and cheaper to invest in.

A Farm unit is simply terminology used to describe a unit that performs no other action than earning more gold per wave during any gamemode. This allows you to afford more powerful units with higher placement costs and expensive upgrades.

As for which DPS units to pick, I recommend checking out my Tier List.

Etherealized

Etherealizing is unique to Universal Tower Defense. If you collect dupes of a unit, you can merge them into a host unit (of the same type) to Etherealize them. This prestiges the unit and unlocks new abilities and passives for them to use after placement.

Unit Evolution

Some units can evolve, taking them to their max potential and becoming the strongest variant of themselves possible. This usually means new passives, abilities, and a higher ATK, RNG, and lower CD.

Evolving consumes a lot of materials and can be grind-intensive, so I recommend reserving evolution for your best units to conserve items.

Unit Levels

As you place your units in-game, they’ll gain experience and level up. This is also achieved when fusing fodder units with your team.

Levels generate Stat Points, which you then invest into their ATK, RNG, and Cooldown, to tailor the unit to your exact needs.

Codes

Pit stop! You’re about halfway through this beginner’s guide, so why not take the time to redeem some Codes to get a nice head start in the game?

Gems

Gems are the primary currency in the game, used to perform banner summons. Aside from Codes, they also drop from:

  • Challenges
  • Robux Store
  • Virtual Shop
  • Story Mode stages
  • Virtual Realm stages
  • Quests
  • Achievements
  • Battlepass
  • Codes

Trait Rerolls

Trait Rerolls are consumable shards that unlock new enhancements for your units. They’re applied via RNG, so you’ll need to stock up on these to guarantee a good roll. Traits often increase Attack, Range, or lower Cooldowns. Some also have built-in support for allied units.

  • Challenges
  • Robux Store
  • Virtual Shop
  • Merchant
  • Battlepass

Playing The Game

Story Mode is the intended early-stage play, giving new players plenty of wiggle room to understand units and their placements. It is also great for stockpiling loot, as its progression is easy to adapt to, and each room gives tons of Gems, Gold, Relics, and more.

Story Mode is also great for unit and player EXP, which helps unlock new content and progressively makes the player and their units more powerful and synergised.

When you’ve gotten to grips with Story Mode, try out Challenges and Virtual Realm to earn even better rewards. These gamemodes are more difficult, so I recommend using what you’ve learned about unit growth before tackling them.

If you ever feel lost, select ‘Areas’ from the left hotbar and teleport to your destination.

Relics

Relics are clothing items that your units equip to increase their stats. Think of them as unit armour. You obtain Relics from playing any gamemode, with each Relic having a unique drop chance depending on the difficulty of the lobby.

Easy Rewards

Some easy rewards to claim for Gems, Gold, etc, during the early game include:

  • Unit Index
    • You can claim Gems for each unit you discover for the first time. Just visit the Yo unit outside of the Summons house to redeem.
  • Achievements
    • Achievements are split into three: Story, Progression, and Units. Each one has progressively difficult Achievements to complete, starting with some easy early-game goals, which will award you with Gems and Trait Rerolls.
  • Level Milestones
    • The Rogue Oni NPC in the lobby rewards you at every 5-level or 10-level increment. Rewards often include Gems and Trait Rerolls.
  • Battlepass
    • Each time you play, you earn Battlepass EXP, which unlocks a plethora of rewards, including an exclusive unit at the end of the Battlepass.
  • Quests (Daily, Weekly, and Personal)
    • There are always tons of quests available thanks to their ever-shifting nature. Some, such as the daily quests, are intended to be quick and easy to complete for loot.
